Hello, welcome!

My name's Jess, thank you for stopping by. Loom is a small hand-dyed yarn studio in Somerset in the South West of England. I learnt to knit after graduating from uni in 2007. After 4 years in finance I left to pursue crafty freelance work and haven't looked back.

Along the way I began sewing a handmade wardrobe and learnt to dye yarn in 2017 to supplement my knitting. Loom was established shortly after in 2019.

If you'd like to join me, or have any questions you can find me on Instagram, Ravelry and YouTube, or you can email: hello@loomwool.co.uk.

  • Small Batch

Each skein is created in a slow and thoughtful manner in my home studio in Somerset. Small batches ensure I can control each step of the process. I primarily use acid dyes but also enjoy gardening and experimenting with natural dyes that grow in my back garden.

  • Low Impact

As well as favouring natural fibres, I monitor water useage carefully. Excess dyes are saved and used to create my Extracts colourways, which are special one-off skeins. Packaging is also biodegradable, compostable and UK made - even the free teabag!

  • Bases

I particularly love to support local producers with BFL, Masham and Corriedale all sourced and spun in the UK. We have a range of other fibres, both superwash and non-superwash which are all from mulesing-free farms.

Frequently Asked Questions

Loom Dye Studio

Do you take custom/wholesale orders?

Yes! You can head to the dyed to order section to put together specific colours and bases. If you can't find what you're looking for, please contact me and I'll be happy to help.

Wholesale enquiries are also welcome, please contact me to discuss your requirements.

How do I care for my yarn?

I recommend soaking your knits in tepid water with a no rinse wool wash. Always lay flat to dry.

Loom yarns are washed and rinsed with water and a small amount of eco-friendly washing up liquid.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! I ship worldwide and cost will be calculated at the checkout. If you encounter any problems, please contact me.

Shipping to the EU

Shipping to the EU has become difficult post Brexit. Unfortunately I don't have the facility to remit VAT so parcels will be sent duties unpaid and any charges will be applied on arrival in your country, if applicable. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, I hope there will one day be a solution that caters to small businesses.

Is my order tracked?

Please choose a tracked service at the checkout if you would like to follow your parcel on its jouney. Tracking is not automatically offered internationally. However Royal Mail now offer a basic tracking service for 1st and 2nd class parcels within the UK, please contact me if you suspect a problem.

How do subscriptions payments work?

When signing up for a subscription club, you will be charged straight away for the first installment. The second recurring installment will depend if you joined before or after the cut off date. Before the cutoff, it will be the same month, after the cut off it will be the following month.

Mini Skein Club: Cut off 15th, recurring payment 22nd.

Can I return my order?

I make every effort to ensure accuracy, however if there is a problem with your order please contact me and I will look into it directly.

If you've changed your mind, please contact me within 14 days of delivery. Items must be returned in their original condition within 30 days of delivery. Please note, buyers are responsible for return postage costs. Clubs and custom orders are non-returnable.

You may request a cancellation before an item has been dispatched.
